Electronic Steering Lock Replacement
Every time you insert the key into the Ignition Switch, or press the Push to Start button, the ESL unlocks the steering column, allowing you to further start the vehicle.
When the Electronic Steering Lock fails, you will NOT be able to start your Mercedes-Benz.
Troubleshooting a failed ESL is straightforward.
Assuming the battery is fully charged, if you do not hear the ESL unlocking when you insert the key, and none of the lights illuminate on the instrument cluster when you turn the key to the second position, then it’s possible that you have a defective ESL.
At Benz Geek, we offer two different solutions for a defective ESL.
For those who want to retain the anti-theft feature, we could replace the broken ESL with a new one from Mercedes-Benz.
Alternatively, we could replace the broken steering lock with an ESL Emulator that will NEVER fail on you again, but would eliminate the anti-theft feature.
